Post by PDogRex »

Since I have been having trouble finding Hodgdon Varget, I having been working up some loads for my .204 with
Hodgdon CFE 223.
Hornady 32 grain VMax
30.0 grains of CFE 223
5 shots at 100 yards.

Anymore CFE 223 is about all I shoot in my 204's. You will be happy with it. Very nice group there with that load in your rifle. Bill K :)

I just hope I can get to a range to shoot. Nice load. I have a few I have yet to shoot yet.

As I said all I use is CFE 223, 99 % of the time with the 32 grain lead free nosler. Works very well in my 204R and some other 20 caliber rifles, except the 20 SSC which is loaded with AA2200.
This was from a little fun shoot/contest, put on by Skipper.

I still load some with CFE223, buddy had me try some 10X. My average group size shrank a bit, not a drastic amount but measurable. I am stuck in between the two. I like the CFE, but seems some have carbon issues with 10X.

If you get improved accuracy and that is what you are after and want, then why worry about some carbon or soot ? Just run a damp patch in between some shots and clean the bore good after you are done, for the day.
Remember some would complain about a new rope. :D :D Bill K :)
