Summer time means many forums are dead, this one no exception. Thanks to Skipper though, we had a good turnout for the latest Challenge....thanks Skipper!
Seeing as there's not much activity here at present, I thought a pic of a particular field I shoot would bring some grins, seeing as the field is about as full of squirrel mounds and holes as could possibly be. This is one field my 204's really shine in and truly is a "target-rich environment".
It's been over 90* every day here for over a month, so all our rock chucks and ground squirrels are down for the season. How long till springtime? (Whine..... )

Re: Ground Squirrel Utopia
Very rich looking field, indeed Rick. But as you say, hot weather, no rain, high alfalfa 99% of the ground squirrels and rock chucks are all down for the season, in my area also. And spring is a long way off. But then again, I still can find some jackrabbits and coyotes to keep the powder burning on. Bill K

Always enjoyed jackrabbits, either when they come out to feed in the pivots also, or jumping them in the sage on walk abouts. Bill K

Couple of the pivots I shoot, may not have the number of mounds yours show, but plenty for me, this trip between the 17 Fireball and the 17 hmr, from 100-400 yards produced a good morning shoot. Bill K ( like you Rick and others, love the photo's.)

Re: Ground Squirrel Utopia
I figure best case scenario WX dependent is January for more Utopic days...Sigh***** One shootin friend went out last week said in an hr of looking he saw 6 sage rats in two fields or 2 rats 3 times, thinks they are youngsters who spent too much time playing tag and not enough eating. Our ranches don't have good Rabbit habitat adjacent with exception of one South of Cedarville but never connected with owner last yr, right after first of year I'm gonna make a point of contacting.

It is so nice and peaceful, except for the gunshots and smell of powder early in the morning in these pivots, when the squeeks are out and wanting some acrobatic practice.... Bill K ( hit the button to fast, sorry for the double.)- Attachments
