Good Day Everyone!
First post here! I've got a reloading question about the 204. I have a bunch of H4198 powder kicking around and I would like to try it out on the 204. I have done some searching and founds a few people that use it but nothing in the way of actual loads. I am using Nosler Spitzer 32 grain bullets with CCI 450 primers... any recommendations on starting and max loads for this? I know there are better powders to use but I have had no luck finding any powder anywhere near me. Let me know! I picked up a Savage 25 Lightweight Varminter and I haven't had a chance to bring it to the range yet..... and I was hoping to bring some handloads to see how it compares to factory ammo!

Re: H4198 and the 204
Hodgdon's Data site shows 22.0 grains of IMR 4198, with a max of 23.5 for the 32 grain in 204R. H4198 is slightly slower so it would probably work, but I would say start around 21.0 and work up slowly in your rifle. Bill K

Thanks Bill, I will give it a try... I will start at 21.0 grains and go up by .2 increments until I hit 23.0 Once I have a chance I will post some results.

Re: H4198 and the 204
I've done some ok loads with H4198 in .204.
I have had real good luck with it for .17 Hornet.

Re: H4198 and the 204
The grouping was OK with the H4198 but not the tightest.... The only load that I had that was sub MOA was 21.2 grains of H4198. I made loads up to 23.0 grains and went up in .2 increments but the 21.2 was the best.
