Somchem S321 and S341

Post by Roverhound »

I'm looking to see if anyone has any load data for the .204 using these powders.
Their website doesn't list it for this particular caliber.
According to their burn rate table the S321 is about equivelent to H4198 and the S341 is around the BLC-2 or IMR4895.
I will be shooting mostly 32 gr Hornady bullets out of a M77 Mark II Target.
I have found limited load data for the S321 but none for the S341.
Here is a link to the MFG's web site. http://www.somchemreload.com/
Here is their burn rate table. http://www.lambdacode.com/reloading/doc ... wders4.htm
I've run across a small company with some of this powder he is willing to part with.
Thanks in advance.

I would ask, how much shooting do you intend with your 204? I ask this question because, if you will be shooting a lot, what is the availability of said powder, after going thru the process of working up loads, and finding a load you are happy with, and trying to find some more of the same powder.
As for myself, I try to buy my powder in 5 or 8 pound jugs, after I have worked up the loads I prefer. I consider myself a volume shooter. I am lucky that I live close enough to "Skippy", and hopefully I find a, target rich, place to shoot. By that I mean going thru way more than 100 rounds of center fire, each day I shoot.
JMHO

As for load info, I would stay away from S321. My opinion, a little fast for the 204. I think S341 would be a better choice for the 204. And with no load info to work with, be very careful, and keep safe. Remember start low, and work up your loads slowly and safely!

I have access to quite a bit actually. I'm starting out with 5 pounds of 341, If I can work up a good load, I'll get more.
Yes, I'll start low and work my way up.
Thanks for the reply.
