Which Rifle would you pick?

I'm looking to buy a .204 Rifle, the choices are many, but I think I have it down to three:

1-Remington
2-Ruger
3-CZ

However, I am open to any and all suggestion.
I have a Gun Show, in Harrisburg Pa., this weekend, so I'll be able to compare all models.
I know where I'm buying it, I even have the scope ( Leupold 6.5-20x50 dia-tube 30mm )
All I need is the manufacturer.

Bill: welcome to the forum!!

I've got a Rem LVSF and a Ruger MKII VT and both are great shooters. I don't own any CZs, but there are plenty of guys here on the forum who do, and are very happy with them.

Since there are several choices of styles, weights, barrel configuration in each maker's line, it somewhat depends on how you plan to use it: target only, predator hunting, small varmints, etc.etc......

If you are interested and willing to spend a bit more, I'd recommend a Cooper.

Yes - I know Copper - very good

My must list is - Heavy barrel
Easy trigger adjustment - I'm a 3.5 lb pull guy.
Besides that I'm open. I'll know for sure when I hold it in my hands.
I'll be shooting, mostly, at 100,200,300 yard bench.
The scope I am going to use is on a SIG 556 SWAT. I just finished laser bore sighting and haven't fired it yet.

I would buy a Savage or a CZ.

You would be missing out if you left the Savage off your list.

I have three Coopers, so you know what my vote is! Only problem, I don't know is my Cooper triggers will adjust UP to 3.5 lbs. I have mine adjusted to less than a pound.

The accuracy and value of Savage firearms should be considered. These rifles are high quality and exceptional shooters from the factory. In addition, there is a world of options for custom barrels and accessories that are easily installed by one of modest technical capability.

Pa i have the ruger m77 target and really like it shoot 32s great and 39s. Also cz varmint drives tacks with 39s never tryed any thing else but the set trigger is great you can go straight from bench to field with out changing anything.

Can't speak from experience here, but I'd seriously look at the set trigger option on CZ (also Tikka offer it as an option)
If you're doing mainly bench shooting then 3 1/2 lb is a bit heavy. But with a set trigger, (as Clint E mentioned) you can still have your heavier pull in the field, then hair trigger at the range.

If only Tikka offered a 204 in varmint garb here in the states... Of all the guns listed, CZ is my first choice as they tend to shoot sub moa with handloads and the set their triggers are adjustable without the need of a gunsmith. Coopers are great guns, they just keep getting more and more expensive! Can you even touch one for less than $1800 today? In that price range I'd consider the Sako 85 too.

I'm new to the forum. I already ordered a Tikka T3 Hunter LH with a walnut stock (before I began reading posts on this forum) that I expect to receive during August. I'm beginning to think I may have made a poor choice as I read responses from various members on this forum. I may decide to acquire a .22-.250 in the not-so-distant future as I had a .220 Swift during the '70's & '80's with which I was satisfied. I would appreciate feedback on your opinions about the Tikka Hunter. Judging from some of the responses I have read, it seems that many of the forum members have Cooper, Savage and CZ rifles in the .204 Ruger caliber.

CZ Varmint model. Mid weight barrel. Adjusatable trigger. the whole rig is a medium weight rig for easy carry & good bench shooting. Hand lapped barrels.

3.5 lb is what I'm use to. All my firearms, if trigger can be set, is set to this.
I feel any less pull is unsafe and it becomes a dangerous situation.
Its one of those little things that people have in their heads.
But that set trigger sound real nice.

I do have a Sig 556 but besides that I'm new to small calibers.
For 40 years my long range rifle was/is Winchester 70/.270 with Weaver 3x9.
I am open to all brands. At this weeks gun show I'll get to see-hold many and then I'll know
but all this information is wonderful and a big help.

Right now my mind keeps going back to a single shoot Remington .204/26" heavy barrel, finger hole in the stock.
I think its $1200. Good looking with a fancy gray/black stock.
As for the 22-250 ---Great caliber also and did shoot it some. Just thought the 204 was a bit better.

Snakeshooter. There are several really good choices of rifles out there. It just depends on how much money, time and effort you want to put into making the one you choose shoot, the best it can. You have noticed the various brands we use and all of us have a recommendation. Just tour the stores, rifle ranges, friends (that have some of them) and shoot them if you can, you will find one that fits your budget and feel, go with it and have a good time.
