gube what kind of scope is that? i just bought the same camo ss tikka as you in .243. i put on a bushnell 4200 2.5-10x40 and im not happy with it. 2.5 is way lower than id ever need to use and 10 isnt quite enough for the long shots from the truck. i built a lightweight coyte only truck gun, but wasnt thinking and went too lightweight on the scope. btw im also from central alberta in the vegreville area, so its all flat wide open farmland and pastures. whats your ideal scope choice for you coyote only guns? and whats your thoughts of a 40 mil vs 50? the scope im thinkin of picking up is a 4-16 bushnell 4200 side focus, but now the choice of a 40 or 50? ive never owned a 50 mil before.

That particular T3 has the Leupold VXIII 4.5 - 14 X 40mm with the varmint hunting reticle. 1/4 MOA adjustments. This is my favorite for yotes.
My other T3 is a 204 and has a 6500 Elite, 2.5 - 16 X 42 with Mil Dot reticle. The reason I choose the 6500 is because of the greater magnification range. I rarely ever use the 2.5 unless I'm calling in very close quarters and the 16 is enough for stretching those longer shots in the PD fields. For yotes I feel this one is pretty ideal.
My two heavy barrel target 204's have a the larger 50 and 56 mm on them. I personally feel the larger mm does not have much of an extra advantage to the 40 mm, especially in a lighter unit such as the T3. The larger scope would appear to unbalanced on the T3. My heavy barrel units basically sit on a bench smacking rats or yotes from off the deck of my house rather than being carried around out in the field.

your leupold had the 40 mil with AO by the looks of it? how does that leupold varmint reticle line up with the ballistics of the .243? which weight of bullets do you find match the drop hashes the best? i reload also and have been using the nosler 70g bt's. and what scope magnification is the reticle calibrated at? that scope and reticle has my interest now. and also the elite 6500 2.5-16x42 multi x is in my price range too, actually cheaper. and seems like a good compromise between a 40 and 50mm and the 30 mil tube lets more light in too right? i hafto do a little more reading and thinking, but i think its down to these two now.. and i guess since you own both, your the best person to ask which one you would prefer for the 243?

Sorry for the late reply. Right now I'm using the 88 gr bergers. When cranked up to max, the first hash line is "dead on" at 300 yds. The next hash line is about 1 1/2" low at 400 yds. I have not done any testing further than that. I would imagine the next hash line would be somewhere around 480 yds. You have to remember that if using the hash lines, impact will be different at different power settings. My elite 6500 on the 204 is pretty much the same. First mil-dot at 300 and second mil-dot about 1 1/2" low at 400 yds. I"ve ordered a bunch of 87 gr V-max's from wholesale sports and will be doing some testing with those. I'm not worried about fur and the 87 V-max should nock em down like the "hammer of thor"
If I was to pick another scope, I think the Leupold would be my first pick due to the "windage" marks on the hash lines but would have no problem picking up another Elite 6500.
