130grs barnes bullet and 06

I am going to try some tipped TSX barnes bullets this year for deer. Does anyone have some load data for this? i cant remember what power i have but i think i have some reloader 15 and some 4895 cant remember for sure though.

From Barnes No.3 Manual, 130gr XBT
IMR 4064: 50.5gr = 2921 fps / 54.5gr = 3152 fps
RL15: 52.5gr = 2981 fps / 56.5gr = 3208 fps

The new TTSX bullets are in the No. 4 Manual, on it's way to me as this is written. The above load is for their XBT Bullet, the same except for the anular grooves and poly tip. The new bullet has a higher BC because of this. Barnes includes info with the TTSX's to say you can load up to 2.0grs more for the TTSX than what is shown in the No.3 Manual for the XBT, you just have to load test to know for sure. The new No.4 Manual includes data for the TTSX bullets.

Nice ballistics for a .30 cal 130gr with a nice BC for most anything we'd do with that rifle. HTH.

well i was to actually shoot a deer within the next month, you would have to catch me doing it. I mean come on what if i shot a nice mature doe. i mean hamburger is darn expensive these days. i am just trying to live off the land, you know like that show "off the grid".

did you ever get that barnes manual? i looked at it today and didnt see the ttsx bullets in there. is there any way you could post a picture of the data for the 130gr tsx's? they would use the same data correct?

xd: The loading data for the tipped TSX's is no different from non-tipped. Load with confidence.

Have you learned the few idiosyncracies of loading the TSX's? The primary point of consideration is distance from the lands. There is a little flyer that comes with the bullets. Check it out prior to loading, as it DOES make a difference in both pressure and accuracy.

You'll be amazed at the performance, believe me.

hey rick,
i have heard something about being off the land a certain amount but not on that amount. my bullets didnt come with anything saying what amount or anything. any tips would be great as this will be my first time with the barnes. i have wanted to load barnes for about ooo 10 years but military deployments and other things have stopped my from doing it. i cant wait to see how they work.

I think Barnes recomends .030 to.070 off the lands. For my rifles it's been .030 to .040 off to get the best accuracy. Good lick with them when they shoot right they are heck on game. I helped recover a .25-06 115 gr TSX out of a mature mule deer buck. It penetrated the entire lenghth of the deer and recovered in the opposite ham. Weighed 114 grs and didn't bloodshot bad at all.
