Old School,
I'm new to this forum so just saw your post. In the late 60's I spent 18 months at Ledward barracks in Schweinfurt. 1st Bn 30th Infantry. Old German barracks with steam heated radiators. Have they changed??? We lived in an upstairs apartment in a german couple's house. Beer was the their drink of choice. It was delivered to the house weekly, just like we have milk delivery. Hopefully you will be able to take in all the sights. All the alpine counries are beautiful. In those days you could drink the water everywhere. Hope you still can.. Also a "mark" was roughly equal to a quarter...
Good Luck,
OtH
