Another one takes a bullet from the American
Yesterday morning I wanted to check out an area I plan to bow hunt so I decided instead of taking the bow, I would take my CZ 527 American. I cut down through a pasture, crossed the creek and sat down by a tree next to the creek so I could watch the bottom and the woods on the other side. The sun would be to my back which would keep me in the shadows and a disadvantage for any deer or coyotes.
Soon after it started to get light, I had a doe come out in the field about 200 yards out and right behind her came a little six pt. buck. He started chasing her around and then they headed into the woods. I sat for another 45 minutes and saw something come into the field next to the woods and realized right quick it was a coyote. It started nosing around on the ground and then started walking along the roadway next to the field in my direction.
It hung up and started looking around and I was afraid it was going to cut into the field on the north side of the ditch separating the two fields and I wouldn't get a shot so I lip squeaked. It heard me. I was watching it through the scope and it looked my way and started coming again. It stopped again and turned broadside at 124 yards to look into the other field so I decided I better take the shot while I could before I missed my chance.
I put the cross hairs behind the shoulder and squeezed off the shot. The coyote dropped on the spot with barely a tail wag. I was shooting the 39 SBK with no exit.
The coyote was a nice looking female that looked like she hadn't missed any meals. I went to take a picture of her but the batteries had died in my camera so I took this one on the way back out in the afternoon to go bow hunting.

Thanks for the story and the photos Melvin. Those coyotes sure do have good ears when they can home in on lip squeaks from hundreds of yards away. Nice looking coyote. Did you skin her out? If you skinned her, was she prime of still a little blue inside?

Silverfox,
I don't skin them out, around here they don't bring enough to do it.

Great job Melvin. When does your bowhunting start. I missed a doe Monday at 25yds. I mistakenly used my 30yd pin and shot right over her.

Dave,
Our bow season started Oct. 1 but Lucas and I haven't gotten serious about it till this past weekend. The weather had been warm and untill recently most of the crops were still in the field. We are both on vacation this week and next week which leads into our firearms season Nov. 21-23.

Nice looking hide Melvin. Hey Captqc, I think Corel Paint Shop Pro will let you put text in also. Photoshop is kinda pricey. I have both and PSP is easier to use, but doesn't do as much.
