The bore snake is used by a number of guys participating in tactical shoots. Run the snake through the bore and they're ready to go. They don't need to worry about shooting a clean barrel as your not allowed foulers. These guys are shooting 3-4k dollar guns and hitting targets at crazy distances. I don't think I would call the bore snale a gimmick. It just wont clean nearly as well as a jag and patch.
