Waxing is not required for WS2. I usually let them vibrate for about 2 hours.

i coated some last night and let the thumbler run about 2 hrs every thing came out real good
270 50 gr bergers, 300 35 bergers, and aprox. 350 39 bks all at one time useing 3 450 ml tubbs stacked inside
i found one 50 gr that never made it to the form die just a jacket a lead core in it
qc must have blinked when this one went by

Waldo: When I first got into coating bullets with WS2, Dave at Tru-Kote (a BR shooter) who is a chemist that sells both Moly and WS2, told me to tumble with steel burnishing balls (3/16" dia.) for 30 minutes, then tumble in another drum for 5 minutes lined with a few layers of plain newspaper to polish the bullets, and get the excess powder off.

I've probably coated something like 10K bullets since that time, and just wonder why you're leaving them in the tumbler for so long. Do you have a reason based on experience, or did someone tell you that extended time was necessary?

I'm tumbling in a RCBS Sidewinder tumbler, using two drums, one for the steel balls, the other dedicated to only polishing the bullets. Just curious.....

Some folks that work in the dry film lube industry recommended 2 hours so that's what I went with. If I can get the same results in 30 minutes that would be super! Since that works well for you I'm going to give it a try this evening.

For polishing I hand shake in shredded newspaper for about 30 seconds, if I'm coating them for someone else I'll follow that with a few shakes in a wool sock.

Not to mention a process that has been used for many years prior for coating other things.

Just one of the many things wrong with the broken patent process.

When I lived in Siskiyou Co in the 80's myself and a friend were using Moly coated bullets in our 22-250's and I continued after moving, but it seemed Moly went out of favor as bullets became a rare find, and I noticed there wasn't much new information or articles and the gunsmith at Huntington's said it built up in the barrel and was generally bad. I stopped using, so what's up with Moly and this WS2 stuff? I thought there were benefits to its use for the same reasons stated in these posts.

WS2 doesn’t build upon itself like moly does. It cleans out of the barrel quite easily.

I was right there this time, no excuses, I think I'll look into Coating again Silver Fox coats his bullets, but he's the only one I've noticed. I bought coated Moly bullets for my 22-250 for 4 or 5 years to reduce friction heat and to reduce cleaning time, not sure about either, but accuracy was very good.

If your looking to start from scratch I’d go with the newest kid on the block. Hexoganol Boron Nitride (HBN)
Easier to apply, much less mess and a lower coefficient of friction.
