Re: Anyone shoot a Rem 222 Mag???
Had one for years.....a sweet Sako L461 Vixen. It was my primary squirrel and rock chuck rifle for a long time, when the 223 became so wildly popular and 222 Rem Mag brass was drying up, I foolishly rechambered it to 223......like a big dummy.
Using the old 50gr Nosler Solid-Base bullets, it accounted for LOTS of rock chucks back then:
That rifle is long-gone now, but I've got nothing but good things to say about the caliber...fast, accurate. I'd snap up that 40X in a heartbeat. You can always form brass from 204 Ruger, as finding 222RM brass is like looking for chicken lips now......
(Chant: I NEED that 40X.....I NEED that 40X......... )

I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.

fwiw, if you can find it at a newsstand (remember them?), or the magazine section in a store: the yearly Rifle magazine Varmint cartridge/rifle edition on sale now has a good article on the .222 Mag with some handload info....

I really like that magazine they started putting out. Always good info and loads/reports on most of the varmint rifles we all seem to use on this site. Along with some others.. I sure hope they continue putting one out each year. Re: Anyone shoot a Rem 222 Mag???
I too Rick had a Remington model 22 I believe it was in the .222 or Triple Deuce caliber as they used to call it back in the 60's. It was the most accurate rifle I ever owned in a factory rifle! There was never a doubt I was not going to get the job done under 200 yds with that caliber rifle.
