Hey guys,
I just installed a Rifle Basix trigger in my Marlin 917. What is the proper way to check if the trigger is safely adjusted? I have heard of the "drop test," but from how high should I be dropping the gun onto its butt end? 1 foot? 2 feet? 3 feet?
Any other ways to test it?
Thanks.
Trigger safety test question.

Re: Trigger safety test question.
I would just "bounch" the but of the rifle on a carpeted floor.....5-6" should be fine. At least, that works for me.

What Keith said, and be sure to test against "slam-fire", meaning slamming the bolt home on a cocked striker. If it releases, you'll need to increase sear engagement, or increase trigger return spring tension.
A few bumps on a carpeted floor is all that's really needed to tell if it's safe or not.

As mentioned above, drop test. If the stock has a padded butt pad on it, I will "drop test" on linoleum, even. And definatly do a couple of "slam fire" tests. And always do these tests with an empty chamber

Re: Trigger safety test question.
I always do any test outside with a safe backstop.
But what do I know?

Re: Trigger safety test question.
True, but it's assumed that when adjusting the trigger and checking for slam-fires, the weapon is always unloaded and has just been verified prior to doing the test.RedLeg wrote:I always do any test outside with a safe backstop. But what do I know?
