Nightforce turret Question

Post by Jake »

Hey guys, just shot my new (and first ever) 204 today, savage 12 vlp lefty. Its fantastic I love it already. Still sighting it in and breaking in the barrel, hope to move out further tomorrow. Anyway more on that later! My question is on my new nightforce nxs the turrets dont always have a precise click. If it does not click but moves 1/4 moa will it still respond downrange or do I need to hear the click to know it actually moved inside the scope. Do I need to sit in front of the TV and roll the knobs for a half hour? Is this common with a new scope? espically nightforce for that matter.

Thanks for any help, Jake

Jake  I have two NXS's 5.5-22-56. You can feel the detents when you make adjusments. Hearing them I can't say. Mine are very positive 4 clicks is 1 moa up or down. All I can say is when your sighted in at 100 yards take it up 8 clicks and shoot 3 shots and see on your target if your shot moved up 2" or 2 moa.
Let us know how you make out.
Hope this helps a little.

Yes I need to try that. I noticed it when I got home. anyway my windage knob is very positive, I can feel and hear every click. My elevation is neither, its just like turning a screw. If not for the marks I would have no way to know how far I moved it. I read somewhere that it may have to do with not having my zero stop set yet. I will try to set my zero stop and see if that helps. Thanks for the help, Ill let you know, if anyone else has anything to add im all ears.

Jake you might be on the right track with this " I will try to set my zero stop" !! This could be the problem if the set screws are loose.
