I've been lurking and reading more than posting, so guess I'd best get busy. After a couple of dry seasons on an old lease I came up with a place in the Panhandle. A buddy and I hunted it for two days, seeing lots of does and spikes, then he took a fat 7-point. Two days later this guy shows up near the same spot but stays about 350 yards away tending a doe. I got him with Dad's old (1949) Model 70 .270 Win.

That is a dandy looking buck you have there Dennis. I'll be headed back out to deer camp tomorrow to hunt Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I had hoped to go tonight but things just didn't work out. I've got some meat in the freezer from 1st season but I've got two tags to fill yet!
It's more important where ya hit 'em, than what ya hit 'em with.

Looks like the ol' .270 can still dish it out real well!
