I have a question about Buck skinning knives.
I have and old Buck(15 years) that keeps an edge through a lot of use. I have had a new one for a year now and won't keep an edge through half a deer. They are both from the same series model of Buck knives. The only difference is the new one is a drop point. Is it because the new one has only been on a stone 2-3 times and the old one 50+?

My guess would be there's a difference in the steel used in your older Buck vs. the newer one which allows it to take and hold an edge better.
It's more important where ya hit 'em, than what ya hit 'em with.
