Shooting off a rest.

What type of rest do you guys shoot off of when working up loads? Bipod & sand bags? Lead sled type rest. Adjustable front and sand bags? Just curious.

Same here, just like when PD shooting. That way, if the bench gets boring or the back gets tired, I can pick up and walk over the hill for some lowcrawling and sneak shooting.

Every time I think I want an adjustable rest, I think about having to remove the front swivel studs, and I just say "skip it", because I like the options. That said, I don't argue that the adjustable rest and bags aren't the best, only that I prefer something simpler.

I've seen guys with rests in the field, constantly tinkering and dinking around with the rest, when they should be looking for dawgs.............

In the field off my bench: Sinclair front rest & Protektor bunny ear bag OR a Harris bipod with a Holland Field Bag for the toe of the stock for walkabouts.

Working up loads: Sinclair front rest & bunny ear bag.

Both work well for me quite well. The front rest gets set once, then I use the rear bag for quick elevation adjustments for field shooting rats.

for working up loads, i agree with RIO, sinclair front rest with bunny ears in the rear, off a bench.
in the fields, i don't do walk-about, so bench with varminter rest. easy to pivot and elevation in a snap.

Different strokes for different folks. I shoot prairie dogs in Montana and Wyoming. The chances of setting up in a nice flat pasture or hay field are few. I use the Harris bipods for pd shooting and therefore do most of my practice and testing with the same. I have a nice front rest and a variety of good sand bags and I'm not above using them on some occasions like a nice flat range with a good bench and some type of competition.

Caldwell BR-1000 and Protector rabbit ear rear bag. After 'testing' a Sinclair, wish I would've spent the extra bucks and gone that way, but the Caldwell does its job.

I just bought the Sinclair with the BR top and I love it.
