Re: Favorite Loads
Shot with my CZ 527 Varmint. .204 Ruger. I’ve found my load using 39gr Sierra BlitzKings. This was the best group but 3 other 4 shot groups averaged .343 inches. Any variation probably has more to do with my 69 year old eyes! 28.6 gr Hodgdon CFE 223, BR4 primers, Fiocchi brass, 2.252 COL.

Don Baldwin (dwinmeade) here...took your recipe of 29.7g-BLC2 w/39g-SBK to shoot in my newly acquired 204 Ruger. Here are my results:204Shooter wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2005 1:32 pm My most accurate load to date is 29.7 gr BL-C(2) and Sierra 39 gr. BlitzKings. The 40 gr. V-Maxes shoot almost as well. I get good velocity with this load as well.
6 shooting groups, mostly with 3 shots. The best 2 shots out of 3 shots averaged .2028...all 3 shot groups averaged .2569.
POI...roughly 1/3" high at 100 yards.
Many thanks for sharing!

Re: Favorite Loads
i have a couple of .204 rugers, one is a savage model 12 bvss and the other is a ruger model 77 mark II. the savage really shoots! it is not uncommon to get .2" groups at 100 yards. my ruger doesn't work very good for me.
i have found that winchester brass does not work well for me. i get a lot of neck cracks and have annealed my cases but that doesn't seem to help. mostly i only shoot the savage and neck size my brass. i have tried all kinds of primers and find the best is Rem. 7.5 to be the best by a wide margin and the next is CCI-450. i have used some CCI #41 primers and don't yet know how well they work. the remington primers are nearly impossible to find any more, i think the gov't must be buying them all.

my favorite load is a 39 grain BK in front of 25 grains of H-322, 2.289 col. the best group was 4 shots into .094" that does not happen every day for me. i get good groups out of 35 grain berger hp and 30.6 grains of cfe-223

Re: Favorite Loads
i know that this is a forum for .204 users. i have been on here for some time, i have a couple of .204's. i recently purchased a new er shaw barrel for my browning 22-250. i tried some loads for this rifle with a 1:12 twist, 26" bbl starting with 33.1 grains of alliant AR COMP powder and increasing by .5 grains for a total of 4 loads. these were loaded with nosler 55 grain tipped bullets using CCI-200 primers bullets seated at 2.400". four out of four loads came in between .121" and .195 and .250"this gun is a shooter with very few rounds down the tube but i have never seen this kind of accuracy with anything ever. i suspect a lot of 204 ruger owners also have .22-250 rifles and might find this information "interesting" .

Re: Favorite Loads
NOW THIS IS THE KIND OF RECIPE I LIKE TO SEE!!
Very straight forward in a format that is very easy to read.
There are so many recipes posted, with all of the pertinent information buried in paragraphs of excess info, making it difficult to read..
Thank you sir!!
Re: Favorite Loads
Hello all. I'm new to the hand loading 204. I'm shooting a Remington 700VLS and love the gun. But I have an obsession with 1 hole groups and reloading will do it with the right recipe. I have the bullets (32g vmax), brass and primers. I am having trouble finding powder. I have access to all the H335 I want. I've read through the complete thread and don't see many using it. Is there a reason? My 22-250 likes Varget but I don't like how it feeds into the 204 brass. I've been trying to find some IMR 8208xbr but no luck. Suggestions?

Re: Favorite Loads
Mind you this is a load in MY RIFLE, work up from around 27.5 grains. My load is 29.3 CFE 223, 32 Nosler lead free tipped, with 205M primer.
Re: Favorite Loads
Is there anyway to get to the spread sheets? I thought I had them in a file and couldn’t find them. Came back here and the Kiel and share won’t share.
Re: Favorite Loads
Spread sheets?
Re: Favorite Loads
Yes there were some spread sheets set up several ways. I have looked all across the forum, the links no longer work in this thread.
They were set up as most popular powders, average grains, bullets a lot of handy info and data compiled from many before I joined up here. It narrowed down a fair bit on my selection of powders and loads, along with what to expect.
Re: Favorite Loads
Thanks for the information. I'm sure the data would help many of us!
