With the Lack of .17 lead free bullets I am considering re barreling my 700 bdl 17 remington
My question is would the barrel mentioned in the vartarg thread be a good choice for this application ? Any advantage with a 26" barrel ?
" Pac-Nor SS Super Match, 24" finished length barrel with the 3-groove 11-twist "

Re: Barrel advice
That is the exact barrel I used on my custom M700 204 Match. Add the 11* crown and you're set. If I was to do the project again, I would not change a thing.
That combination, along with a Holland recoil lug, bedding, Jewel 10 oz. trigger and my 204 Match reamer has accounted for hits on squirrels past 600 yards with the 39gr SBK over RL-10X. I don't think you'll be disappointed using it for your 20 Practical project.

Re: Barrel advice
Thanks Rick
Thought about another vartarg but since I have a fair amount of 223 brass the practical seems like a good idea
