Just ordered an AR15 barrel from Wilson Combat, 18" match grade fluted with 1/12 twist.
What weight factory ammo would be best for that twist rate?
Using 2a Balios Lite receiver set, titanium muzzle brake and gas block. Expect rifle will weigh about 5.5 pounds without scope. Think it would still be good to 400-500 yards with a 12 power scope.

If you do some research, you'll most likely find that for a 12 twist .204 barrel, your best bet will be with bullets weighing from 32grs to the excellent 39gr SBK. The 40gr bullets are problematic in the 204 in a 12 twist barrel......a very few will shoot them well, most will not, especially the 40gr V-Max, which is long for weight.breastroker wrote:Just ordered an AR15 barrel from Wilson Combat, 18" match grade fluted with 1/12 twist. Hi breaststroker. I had a post right before yours & I'm thinking of that same barrel to purchase. Do you know anyone with any experience with the 18" barrel? Who did you have thread the muzzle & were did you purchase your receiver set? Keep in touch & good luck. By the way, My WOA 24" 204 ar & my Kimber BA 204, both really like 35 grain Bergers in front of CFE 223 or IMR 8208.

Actually just realized it isn't threaded which is fine as the 204 isn't much on recoil, don't need a flash hider either
