.204 Nosler Brass.

Hi guys i am looking for a little help on this one i have just got 100 new Nosler brass to use in my .204 Ruger i am having problems neck sizing it with my .227 bushing just wondered if any of you are using Nosler brass in .204 and what bushing you use for it.

Looking at my firered brass it is .230-231 now to my mind if i put it though a .227 bushing it would be ok but its not in some cases you can pull the heads out with your fingers.

Sounds to me that your die is not adjusted correctly. On my 20VT, I am using a 226 bushing w/Redding die, but I am turning the necks. What dies are you using? I would suggest you read the instructions that came with the dies, for setting adjustments correctly. Redding type "S" bushing neck die suggests adjusting die down to just make slight contact with the shell holder. Kinda sounds to me that you may need to re-adjust your die.
Also, if your rifle has a factory chamber, you really don't need a bushing type die for neck sizing.

I shoot a rem 700 in 204.I use a .226 bushing for most of my loads. Depending on the thickness of the brass, I sometimes have to use a .224 or. 225 to get the right tension but I also use an expander button. A standard FL or neck die squeezes the neck down to .217 and the expander button expands it back to approx.…227.Using a .226 bushing and expanding back to .227 just works the brass less. I use a Redding carbide expander button (no lube required) and it allows me to feel the tension when drawn back through the neck and I can tell the ones that needs a smaller bushing. I would suggest you get a couple different size bushings, and then you will have all the bases covered. Good luck. Dan

Thanks for the replies chaps i have now found that the necks are thinner on the Nosler brass and that a .226 bushing in my Wilson die gives me good tension and the load shoots just fine now.
