I'm about to get a second rifle in 204 and wondered if I had to sort the fired brass for each rifle? If I mixed them would I need to FL size them?
Thanks.

Re: Sort brass for different rifles?
Bill, I keep dedicated brass for each rifle I own. This way, every piece of brass is fireformed for that particular chamber, giving only the need for neck sizing thereby giving peak accuracy potential. Take the new stuff out of the bag, neck size right off the bat, then detail and shoot/fireform. No need whatever to F/L size new brass......just pop one into your chamber right out of the bag. If it fits, why in the world would anyone want to work it over a F/L die when it already fits that chamber?
Even though two rifles cut with SAAMI chambers could use the same brass, doing so negates much of the detail work we put into our cases. This is the standard for small calibers, not so much in the larger cases used for big game hunting, but it matters there too to a degree.
Keep the brass sorted by headstamp and lot, and for each rifle. HTH, JME

Re: Sort brass for different rifles?
Ditto what Rick said. I only have one rifle for most of the calibers I have. BUT I have 4 - 6.5 x 55mm Swedes and 3 different 45-70s - and each has their own batch of cases for use in each specific rifle. Might not believe it, but it does keep the case prep time down . . .
I hope I can someday be the person my dogs think I am . . .

Definitely sort the brass for each rifle even if it has the same head stamp & LOT #. It saves a lot of frustration later on.
