Congratulations 22 Hornet! Nice!! I'm thinking of following your footsteps and getting myself a #1 in .204. What do you think of it, so far? What scope did you decide on? Let us know how it is shooting for you.

Re: Look What I Got
Nice piece! Before I got my remmy I also picked up a ruger #1 that had a grey laminated stock, beautiful gun, but I couldnt get myself past that tang off the back of the trigger guard. Just did care for that.
I cant believe how much fun the .204 is to shoot. Make sure to report back on how she shoots.

Re: Look What I Got
Beautiful looking Rifle....is it a Single-shot,a lever-action?
Re: Look What I Got
The falling block Ruger No 1 is a very strong action . I have used a Ruger No 1 243 Win and 25-06 Ruger for shooting mule deer and pronghorn . Your 204 Ruger should be a fine prairie dog shooting rifle. Enjoy

22 Hornet, thanks to your post and Pic I got a 1-B in .204 this weekend! Now I have to figure out what scope to put on it. Will put a pic up once I have it properly outfitted. Been seeing lots of chucks here in NE PA. Can't wait to go after them.

Re: Look What I Got
Hornet: You're gonna love that No.1. Mine is a No.1V, and has accounted for countless PD's, chucks and ground squirrels over the years, and is one of my most accurate rifles. I also shoot a Ruger No.3 custom rig chambered in 17 Ackley Hornet.....wicked accurate, and pure death on grass rats.
Here's mine dominating an alfalfa field here from my bench, cleaning up on distant ground squirrels:
If you're new to these rifles, be sure to research both the forend modification and trigger work, as without these two tweaks, the rifle will never reach it's full potential. There's lots on the web related to these fixes, and it's not hard. I've floated and glassed both forends, and replaced both triggers. Kipplinger is the absolute best, or if you can find one, snag a Canjar single set trigger for that No.1.....pure joy.
There's something about the solid lock-up when that lever is closed....like a bank vault closing. You also don't have to worry about loading to max overall length either...no magazine to dink about with, so you can seat as close to the lands as wanted. A few trips to the rat patch, and you'll really bond with the new rig.
My No.1 cooling off on a hot rat shoot:
Good luck with the rifle, if it shoots like mine does, it will be with you for a very long time.

Re: Look What I Got
So, 22 Hornet, have you shot yours yet? I 'borrowed' a 3X9 scope from another gun, and will be going out to sight mine in tomorrow. Too many chucks out there thumbing their noses at me. Too itchy. have to do something about it. Since I see that you have a scope on yours, I hope you're 'good to go,' and are going to hunt with it soon. Keep us posted on your progress.

Re: Look What I Got
Nice ruger.
Rick, who did your custom #3, I have a #3 with an aftermarket #1 style stock in 45-70 and have it on the back burner for converting to a small vermin rig. Least I have found is $700 to convert to a small headsize extractor with new barrel.

Okay, opened up a photobucket account and got picture up there. Now, to see if I can load it here....
Don't know if it will post. If not, please give me suggestions to be able to post pics. Thanks,
