Re: 17 Hornady Hornet Reamer Print
Thanks!
I hope that lead and throat is short enough to keep the bullet in the case and still approch the rifling. There won`t be any problem with magazine lenght but those 17s are short shanked little buggers. That`s my 1 gripe with the 204

Maybe with the 25's but not the 20's. The lead and neck diameter are almost idenitcal to the 17 Fireball/ Remington. I feel this is a poorly drawn round and if I were to chamber a rifle for it (which I won't) it would need a fair amount of work. Infact I would still chose the 17AH over this anyday. Adam

This is only the second reamer print I've seen, so forgive my ignorance.
Why does the print list lead(e) and throat dimension? They're the same thing.

The lead is the freebore and the throat is the angled section where the rifling engages the bullet after passing the freebore. Typically the throat is at and angle of 3* or less. Adam

Thanks, ab.
Wish they'd get there definitions consistent. Every book I've seen defines freebore and leade as the same thing.
Also noticed on the dwg that there are two dimensions of .1725 and the do not appear to be marked correctly. Look above the lead.

No the lead is .063" and the freebore is .050". The .172" you're refering to is the bore diameter. Adam
