I just joined the .204 club by putting on layaway a Bushmaster .204 Carbine.
This is the one with the collapseable stock and 18 inch barrel.
On sale for $699.00. I could not resist.
How did I do.? Be honest ! (but gentle)

You will have to let us know how it shoots. An 18" barrel is a little short for the .204 but other than that, the platform is solid. Keep us informed!

Re: Bushmaster .204 at Cabelas
I would opt for a 20" or 22". I have a 24" barrel on mine with a 2 1/2" muzzle brake. Makes for a very heavy gun, if I were to change it I would go with a 22". 18" is pretty short to achieve the optimal range of the .204. Especially because of the gas block location on an 18" barrel. It is probably 2-3" closer to the receiver than on my gun. So your bolt will open sooner after you squeeze the trigger than on a longer AR. You will lose some velocity and accuracy with the short barrel.
I guess if you don't shoot over 150-200 yards it probably doesn't matter......
Just my 2 cents........

I have the bushmaster predator 204 from cabelas also, after putting a gisele trigger in it i love it. I mostly coyote hunt with it and cant think of a better set up for that its light and fast and the 18" barrel seems to shoot well. havent shot much past 300 , several coyotes past 200. the 1-12 twist in mine seams to favor 40gr bullets ? i have shot alot of different weights 32gr noslers have been the worst for me, no one else seems to like them but 40 gr vmaxs shoot really well through mine . It even likes the 45s

Picked up the new Bushmaster .204 today. I had them mount a Burris E1 4.5 X14 on it. Pretty heavy gun at this point.
The trigger measures right around 7 lbs. I am new to the AR and wonder what you all recomend for a nicer trigger and is that something I can install my self.
Thanks for the replys.
