New Nosler Varmint Bullet - "Varmageddon"
Yes, you heard it here first.......
Nosler just introduced an entire line of Flat Base varmint bullets in both tipped and HP configuration, from .17 thru 6mm calibers. These appear to be Ballistic Tips with a flat base, with or without the poly tip.
They had a contest there among the employees, and two of them came up with the same name for the new bullet: "Varmageddon". The website lists the BC's and OAL's for all versions. Check it out:

Can't wait to try the 32 grainers out in my 20 VarTarg and 204's.....

Rick, pretty cool presentation they put together! Are you thinking Ballistic Tip, or HP for .204? Sure have been happy with what I'm using but, always willing to try an Oregon product!

Re: New Nosler Varmint Bullet - "Varmageddon"
Ramos: It'll be all poly-tipped for me...the BC's are substaintially higher in every caliber. I'll be trying them in all five of my .20 cal rifles......I'm thinking the Flat Base design may possibly give better accuracy than the Boat Tail 'regular' Ballistic Tips. Guess we'll see, eh?
The .17 cal 20 grainers should be dandy in the .17 Mach IV/Fireball, also the .17 Ackley Hornet. Seems there's some shootin' to do.....

Looks like a good start up line. Wished I saw 50 grain tipped .224, but that may come along. Like you I want to try some of those bullets. Bill K

You Yanks have all the fun.... ...and new products.
Sometime in 2012 here in Aussie Land and the Distributor states they have no intention of importing loaded Ammunition.
Looking forward to reading some reports when you get to play.

No word on pricing just yet, but I'm guessing it'll be in line with the standard Ballistic Tips; same bullet less the boattail. In theory at least, these flat base bullets should be more accurate than the boattail versions....theoretically at least. Guess we'll see.....

Re: New Nosler Varmint Bullet - "Varmageddon"
At present I'm using 30 & 35 grain Berger Flat Base HP's with excellent results accuracy wise but my main reason is less pelt damage than most Ballistic Tips so a 32gr Nosler HP will be on the cards to try.Rick in Oregon wrote:

Thanks for the update. Will wait for your review before I try them. The flat base 17 may load better for my Fireball than the boat tail.

Rick... Since you have a insider info. What can you tell me about the Dogtown and Varmint Extreme bullets Nosler puts out for MidwayUSA and Midsouth Shooters. A private email is fine, if you wish not to give advice/info on site. Thank you Bill K

Re: New Nosler Varmint Bullet - "Varmageddon"
Bill - It's no secret, both bullets mentioned are the same, and are price-point mass produced bulk bullets, privately labeled intended for casual shooting. Nothing fancy, just regular cup and draw with the HP formed w/o poly tip. They're a good economical way to enjoy high volume shooting and not break the bank.
Re: New Nosler Varmint Bullet - "Varmageddon"
I noticed that Nosler's Varmageddon 204 bullets popped up on midwayusa . They are not available yet, but a box of 100 is marked at $13.99! I might have to give these affordable little pills a try!
