Drug out my Model 77/44 Ruger

Post by Critter »

Since I am currently reloading 44 and 357 revolver carts, I drug out my M77/44.

Only problem is I can't remember where the bolt release is. I know about the three position safety, buy I don't know how to pull the bolt.

With full power .44 Mag loads that thing is formidable. Recoil like a .45/70 lever gun.

Incidently, I bought the thing for my little neice to learn how to shoot on at range which allowed only center fire rifles. Loaded light .44 special rounds with 200 grain bullet, kicks like as .22mag. Perfect for training rifle. Has VX2 8x scope.

Dave, the bolt release is on the left side of the action, at the rear. It's made so your fingrnail depresses the thing and releases the bolt. No where near as slick as a M70 or M98, but it works, and is in the same location as the others mentioned.
