300 yd groups

what group size would one expect from a 204 at 300yds? i shot mine and got 1.7 to 1.9 inch groups off of a rest on a bench. i never shot my 204 at 300 before and was curious what other people were getting.

I got a .204 built some months ago and on a good calm day i have had a few 1" (5 shot) groups at 450 yards .At 300 yards .75" comes fairly often .

When you say .75" at 300 yards is that .75"MOA which would be 2.250" center to center Or actually .75" center to center?

.75" CTC not MOA .One of my best groups at 100 yards was 9.18mm outside to outside ( 5 shot) .All with 39gr SBK .

Doubt if I could do it again, but last group at 300 yds with my Cooper Phoenix measured ctc .418", (3 shots). I kept that target!

Keith: I'm betting that target is framed and hanging in a small shrine, complete with a dedicated light source, in a conspicuos place in your gun room! THAT my friend, is some good shooting! No wonder prairie dogs think so little of you.

Keith, is your Cooper a .204? Which ammo/load are you using? I shot my Cooper Phoenix in .204 for the first time last week and she was a laser with both 32's and 40's (factory ammo). Thanks, Gary

Captqc, yes, the Phoenix is a .204. The load I was shooting was: 24.7 grs of Benchmark with a 39 gr Blitzking. (Usual rules apply, start lower and work up). However, this is not a max load, but the Phoenix has a tight chamber, and loads thru it are faster than thru my Varminter. This load chronys about 3585 fps, and as you can see, it very accurate (in my gun). Also shot a 500 yd group of 2.181" (3 shots) with this same load.
It also shoots the 32 gr Blitzking well with 26.7 grs of Benchmark. Has one group at 100 yds at .112".
I think you will be very happy with your Cooper!

You guys are sooooo lethal at 300 yards....I'm not feeling safe at my desk now!!! Wow, great shooting. I need to set-up at 300 to really gain appreciation, but I think those are out of my realm. Dealing on a toy that might get me there though!!

I spent the whole summer of 07 and part of 08 trying to shoot a 5 shot bug hole at 300 yards with my LRPV.I was able to get 4 shots touching numerous times. 5 was VERY elusive and only accomplished once or twice. I finally accomplished my next goal with 6 shots from my Cooper in 6.5 Creedmoor "BUT" a bug hole with a .204 is quite a bit smaller than a 6.5 bug. With a pair of well trained lungs and smoooooth trigger finger most 204's should be capable of shooting a nice group at 300. A quality trigger is also very (if not the most) important puzzle piece for long range groups!! I prefer to shoot cannon balls. If your off a foot, it's still a "X"

Good to see you back Mike, and it looks like your time away was very well spent. Making bug-hole five shot groups at 300 is something that brings a smile to ALL our faces.....even if we're not the one who shot the group! Nice goin' for sure.

Well folks, thats some darn fine shootin' if I may say-so. My best 204 group to date is .281 (H) x .266 (V) inches at 200 yards with a CZ-527 American that was bedded and free floated.

The biggest variable to good shootin' is the "nut" behind the trigger.
