first reloads/groups with my Cooper

Took the Cooper Model 21 out again today for the first time with reloads. I was using Benchmark powder, 32 grain SBK, and Federal 205M primers. My OAL is 2.235. Here is what I got today!


3 shot group with 26.0 grains


3 shot group with 27.0 grains (starting to tighten up)


3 shot group with 28.0 grains. I may have pulled that one shot so I'll repeat it tomorrow


4 shot group with 28.1 grains. The left one was me because I was getting cold and hungry haha. The bottom one was a different piece of brass that was never fired before (experimenting). I think this deserves a repeat as well.

Looks like a good start. Mine will shoot 1/4" groups with 25.1 RE10X under a 39SBK seated at 1.927 measured at the ogive.

I gotta try that load this summer. Read it's been accurate for several different makes/models. Let's see some pics of your 1/4" group(s). I know you didn't say "all day long", but you didn't say "sometimes shoots 1/4" either. Not calling you a liar. I just want to see what a 1/4" group looks like.

Went out again today and repeated the 28.0 of Benchmark. It was very similar with a 3 shot group of .284". Looks like I'll be staying here! May tinker with the OAL to see if anything improves or worsens...
These "warm" days are gettin me anxious for the groundhogs! Bring 'em out

It looks like you found a winner with Benchmark! Won't be long and those groundhogs will be out . The temps. are going to be in the 40's for next 10 days. Should melt the remaining white stuff we have left. Rudy
