Bought a remington VSF in 204 a few months ago and I am VERY pleased with it!! SHoots tiny groups, minimal barrel fouling and is just a joy to shoot!! It is VERY well balanced for a varmint gun and just palin FEELS right in your hands. Have sold many of them and all my customers share my opinion. You won't regret it!

The longest shot I have taken and gotten a coyote was 440 yards with a 243 with a heavy barrel. I would have no problem taking the same shot with my 204 with a light barrel. In fact since I got the 204 I have sold my 243 which is a fine rifle. I have four 204s two light weight one standard and one heavy barrel. I use a Remington LVSF Light Varment Stainless Fluted. What allows me to make the long shots is a good rest and scope. I use pole cat shooting stix that clip on to my stock. The 1/4 mile shot I made with the 243 was off the knees and I strugled holding steady as the brush was tall and I could barely see over it and stay stable. I use shooting stix of one form or another and a dove hunting stool to gain height so I can get a steady rest and see over the brush. Get your self a good set of stix and you will be able to make the shot. I kill squirrels out to 330 yrds with out messing with the elevation on my scope so a coyote at 400yrd should not be a problem. Very seldom do I get the real long shots when calling they are mostly with in a 100yrds. You will get good by doing so go do.
