Darrell Holland Custom Rifles?

Post by Bitman »

I'm looking at one of Darrell Holland's Walking Varmint rigs, in .243.
What say you guys, are his rifles any good?
Anyone here shoot one? Rick of Oregon, how about you?

Bitman: I may not be the guy to ask that question to, as I'm biased and convinced Darrell is the finest, most meculous craftsman I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Not only are his rifles the finest "techno-rifles" money can buy, he is one of the best guys I've ever known in every regard. When I amost bought the farm a while back, he was one of the first to call me in the hospital, he's that kind of guy. He's about the finest long range shot I've ever been with, the sort of guy you have to see it to believe it. This man knows rifles.....period. One of his best friends is the Chief Armour of the British SAS....they shoot together alot if that tells you anything. Even the USMC, Army, FBI, and "other" fed agencies send students to Darrell's Long Rang Shooting School to further polish their skills.

I've got a number of his rifles, my two favorites are "The Twins", my 223 Ackley and 243 Ackley. Both have McMillian Winchester Marksman stocks, Rem M700 blueprinted actions, Pac-Nor SS Super Match barrels, Holland recoil lugs, Jewell triggers, Lupy 6.5-20 scopes. Both are veterans of both prairie dog wars, and countless ground squirrel trips. Both still get out ever year and do their thing on Skippy without a hicup of any kind, both still shoot bugholes, although the 223AI will be ready for a barrel in another year or two.

Here's Darrell with his "I got him" look during a PD shoot in Montana a couple of years ago. That's Chris Ditcher, owner of Pac-Nor Barrels in the background. He got one of my benches immediately upon returning home from this shoot...... ;) :

Here's one of The Twins (223AI) overlooking a squirrel infested alfalfa field not far from here:

I'd suggest giving him a call, leave a message. He'll call you back in the evening to throughly discuss your project. Tell him I sent you. Let us know what you come up with and good luck with the project.
