Blue Dot powder
Has anybody tried a Blue Dot load ? Before I get jumped on about a Reduced Recoil load for a cartridge that already has zero recoil, I need to get a load that does not explode Greyfox. I like this round for coyotes but a little much for fox. I have seen BD loads for 22-250 and 223 that claim that they POP like a 22 mag and are fur friendly, So I thought I would ask the people who know. Any ideas would be appreciated

Re: Blue Dot powder
I haven't tried it in the .204, but I've used it in .223, for an experiment (and, as usual, Mr. Calhoon knew what he was talking about). It was "interesting" and shot quite well with 37s in my .223s.
There's a fellow who goes by "seafire" over on www.24hourcampfire.com, who posts in the reloading section for varminting, in the forums there. He's the "Blue Dot Guru" of varmint loads, at least he's tried it in more stuff than anyone else I know of, except maybe Calhoon himself. I'd ask him, to see if he's tried it in the .204, perhaps he, or Calhoon, has done so.
I can't help much, but those two, if anybody, can help quite a bit. Good luck!

Re: Blue Dot powder
Thanks , I went over there and registered the whole nine yards, when I looked at the user list I did not see that name ? Maybe I'll let this post ride awhile and see if anybody chimes in, I was told in another forum BD loads get a little funny in cals under 22 ? Not sure what they meant.

He's the guy, I didn't know if he still posted on AR or not, I don't hang around AR much, but I practically live at the campfire.....Tooooooo much funny stuff over there, whether it's meant to be, or not

Re: Blue Dot powder
I hope to try some of those loads this week end, and will let ya know how they work.
Re: Blue Dot powder
I've used Blue Dot in a Rem 700VLS .204 with great success.
Win. case
Win WSR primer
14.5 gr. Blue Dot (Work up from 13.0!!!)
32 gr. Blitz King @3440 fps
...........................X 5 .211 @ 100 yards.
If your looking for fox load you will want to stick with 32's other then Nosler as the solid base will exit.
Also try to take front on or quartering shoots to limit stiching.
