Well I am done with the deer and goat hunt for 2009. Let me tell you it has been a good and freaky year for my big game hunting so far. Lets see the first Antelope of the season was a total freak. He has very wide spread and also goes forward over his face and nose. Now he is only 13 1/2 inches tall but he has 6 inch cutters and 6 inch bases. I shot him with a 7mm Remington magnum, 140 gr Nosler Accubond, 69 gr of Re-loader 19 at a velocity of 3322 fps. This is wrapped in a Savage 110 with a Boyd's laminated wood stock, topped with a Buris 4.5x14 ballistic plex scope. I ranged him at 529 yards and squeezed the trigger. One shot, one kill and he was dead in his tracks. The next goat was taken with the same rifle and load but he was a freak also. He was 14 1/8 inches tall and has 6 1/2 inch cutters. But he is real narrow and his hooks cross on the top. I shot him at 350 yards on the button. Once again one shot, one kill and he only took three steps, stood up on his hind legs and fell over backwards. The final animal in this trio of big game was my buck mule deer that I just got. He gross scores in at 141 4/8 inches. I also shot him with my 7mm Rem. mag. I used a Leupold RX-IV, Boone and Crockett Trophy Scale Range Finder for all my ranges the I told you here today. I also used a Pact Pro Chronograph to determine the speed of my loads. I added that part in for any doubters of the info that I have given here today. I am going to try to post pics of the animals and I hope they come through so you can enjoy them as much as I do.
This is the first goat at 529 yards
Same goat just a different look at him
Second goat of the year at 350 yards
This angle shows the top of his horns crossing.
And this is my buck at 228 yards.
Just a different angle of my deer.
Well I hope these pics came out and I hope you enjoyed my story. Now if you all don't care I have a Cow elk tag to go fill. Good luck to you in your hunting adventures and Ride Up!!!
Thanks
Shane
