I use Tipton .17-.20 cal patches.

I use the Dewey rod with Montana jag combo too. I put the patch on the sharp end of the jag and push it through. I have yet to be able to push a patch down a rifle barrel by wrapping the patch around the jag. Maybe someone could explain why jags are designed the way they are, with the ridges on the sides...

I make my own. A yard of white flannel material goes a long ways. A Fiskars roll cutter and board is the only other equipment required.

I have quite a few of military cleaning patches, I just take the 45/308 and cut them into smaller ones, they work great.

Pro-Shot makes some .17-.22 cal patches..... It's a company out of Illinois, and while the .17 barrels might be a little on the tight side, for the .20 cal, they are a perfect fit..

http://www.proshotproducts.com/safety_cleaning.html

Go to their "Product Pictures" tab and the patches are in the middle of the first line....

I've found the locally and always been impressed with their items..

I use Southern Bloomer patches Item # 122. They measure about 1 1/4 square and seem to fit the 204 quite well.I use a slotted tip though.I never have got the knack for a jag.The patches are available through Mid way.
I just started using Gunzilla bore solvent. It is a natural ingredient plant based liquid.Seems to do an adequate job.More user and environmentally friendly than chemical based products. It doesn't stink either.I haven't thrown away my Shooters Choice or Hoppes bore gel yet.

Try taking a square patch that seems a bit too tight and hold it at opposite corners, like it was diamond shaped, and pull on them, then turn it around and pull on the remaining corners, This unsettles the weave in the center and allows the patch to slide through. Just a thing to try, no guarantees, but sometimes it works depending on the material.

I use the 3/4" square patches and they work without any tricks.

A simple fix. Pro Shot makes patches and jags in sizes for .17, .22, and up. The trick is to NEVER use slotted jags (ask any BR shooter about this). If you use the proper spear-point jag with a 1-1/8" square patch centered on the jag, spear the patch to center it, it will be a perfect fit for the bore. The secret is to use ONLY spear point jags of the proper bore size.

If you use a separate spear-point jag of the proper diameter with a 1-1/8" patch in the .204 Ruger, it will fit perfectly, as will all their other jag/patch combinations for other calibers. Their 3/4" patches work perfectly with their .17 cal jag for all my .17's. Been using their stuff for many years without a grumble. :D All these jags ARE CALIBER SPECIFIC, and that's the trick.

When out in the varmint patch, I take two patch sizes for all my varmint rifles, 3/4" and 1-1/8", along with a box of assorted spear-point jags in a fly fishing plastic Plano box. This way I've got patches and proper sized jags for every rifle in the field close at hand.

You will also want to use only bronze brushes with brass cores, NOT the cheap brushes with steel cores that can really rip a fine barrel. The Sinclair Book of Precision Shooting and Handloading explains why slotted jags are NOT the way to go, and can actually harm a barrel over time. The day of the slotted jag is gone, along with the Do-Do Bird.
