Varmint Hunter #72 Article
Got my October 2009 copy of The Varmint Hunter magazine last week. As I was reading it this weekend, I found on page 135 a great article about a guy from Oregon named Rick, and his buddies who have formed some kind of hunting club. As I read, I got this feeling like I knew the whole bunch! Wierd! This guy Rick has like 8(..teen) rifles dedicated to shooting cute little creatures he likes to call "Skippy", from a shooting rest/bench he built himself! The article covers 5 full pages, covering everything from recommended internal perimeter defense weapons, to the proper diet for a varmint hunter. Good stuff! Check it out guys! It's very well written! : )

BO,
I would have known it was well written if you just said Rick did it. Sure sounds like he has a great setup. Too bad he doesn't have a couple nice Savages to make it perfect.

HotShot - He only needs two Savage actions and two of his infamous Leupold scopes.....and a cart for barrels and boltheads.

Yup, that's me alright......People Eating Tasty Animals.
Haven't seem my issue either, as we're at the butt-end of the country when it comes to mail service. Looks like I'll have to trade-in all my Remchesters for carts full of Salvage boltheads and barrels too before next season. Naaaah, I think I'll pass..... acloco....that would be reverse evolution! (And Hotshot, you know better! )
Gary: Don't be bashful....your snoring prowess is soon to be known world-wide! (Just think, your snoring 'power' could be used to knock down unwanted structures, heat bearings, settle new pavement on highways.......the possibilities are endless! Maybe "Weapons-Grade" Snoring?)

If you could tape that so we could play it on a varmint caller maybe somewhere in the way back of Wyoming or North Dakota it would call dinosauers into range. We'd be on the cutting edge of a new sport(however, it's already illegal in California). I'm gonna start building a new rifle, actually I just need a barrel and some dies-I got the Savages.

I, for one, am really glad to hear that news. I am really sick and tired of dealing with all those female Remington barrels all these years.

Re: Varmint Hunter #72 Article
Rick....I thought your article in VH was great. Only wish we had that kind of "Skippy" shooting here in Illinois. Years ago, I had lot's of fun shooting on a farm that had tons of gophers (13 line ground squirrels) on it, but urban sprawl eventually put a damper on that. I look forward to your posts/pictures and more of your experiences varmint shooting. Maybe an informative article on bullet coatings (WS2) or Moly etc. pros and cons?
