I am lefthanded and have noted that the Ruger M77 Hawkeye is now available in lefthand in more cartridges than previously. They have added 204, 223, 243, and perhaps some others, in the walnut, blued version with a 22 inch sporter weight barrel.
If any of the forum members have experience with this rifle in the above calibers, I would be interested in their impressions of its accuracy potential. I would handload for it, and would hope to see .5 or .6 MOA. Is this a reasonable expectation from this rifle?
I emailed Ruger and they informed me that the action is pillar bedded, but the barrel has a pressure point. Has anyone experimented with removing the pressure point and making it fully free floating?

Re: Ruger Hawkeye
Yes, I tried it on my rifle and the groups opened up so I went back to having some pressure up front.
