Want to keep that nice AR?

Post by Rick in Oregon »

If any of you/us has an AR or like rifle, an AK, or a host of other guns that our new "leader" feels is offensive (to him), now is the time to act, as the list of soon to be banned guns has been released by the Democrats. The list is long, and have no fear, YOUR AR is on the list. Don't think for a minute it will be "Grandfathered" in either.

Now is the time to quit relying on others to take up the fight, we need YOU to write your representatives. Apathy will be our collective downfall, and every one of us needs to be proactive, or soon we'll not be going out on a weekend with our favorite rifle, handgun, or even shotgun. It happened to the good folks in the UK, Austraila, Canada, and the fools who hate us are on the march here.

Here's a link to access your representative, so now you don't have an excuse for not getting involved. Make no mistake, this time it's for real, and they're after YOUR guns! Right now they're trying to tax ammo out of reach, ban the resale of military brass, and enact the Assault Weapons Ban that expired. These liberals are dangerous....get involved NOW!

I just sent a email to the one democrat senator that I am unsure of. Most of our legislators and senators are pro gun here in Louisiana thank goodness. But you guys in other states that have anti-gun people in congress need to work on them real hard or what Rick says will happen.

Even time spent debating what firearms can and can't be owned in this country is really wasted. I don't know about all of you, but I think these are pretty scary, uncertain times. To even talk about disarming the American people at all, especially right now, when we as a nation are essentially broke for the next 3 generations is ludicrous.
  • We're tied up in 2 wars, with more hotspots brewing.
  • Russia announced today that it's building it's military using their profits from sky high oil prices the last 2 years.
  • Is our military stretched too thin right now? What if it is? Do we have the resources to rebuild it right now?
  • Foreign investors already own WAY too much of this country. China and others are questioning the value of US bonds, so there IS a point coming where there's just no more money to be borrowed.
Enough of the scary list. Actually, no it isn't. I think we too often, myself included, stop thinking about how serious these problems are too quickly. We put it out of our mind and go watch sports, or reload some ammo, or just work all the time. I think we as Americans have let things slide way too far to a way of life we didn't see coming. Blame whoever you like, republicans, democrats, big oil, Wal Mart, unions, the possible scapegoats are many. The fact is, we aren't vocal and participatory anymore as a society in getting things working the way we want them. I believe that causes the few we elect into power, to make many decisions without first consulting their constituents. I think the feeling in general is it's already gone, and speaking your mind would be a waste of time. I admit I've felt that way, and it doesn't feel good.

You're right Rick, we need to start being more vocal on these matters. Not even telling them what they already know, but scolding them for even spending the time on discussing such a thing right now. Persistence is key I think. I sent an email to one of my representatives for the first time ever a few weeks ago. No response. Now I guess I need to start calling. Maybe just stop by his house on a Sunday afternoon.

Good post Rick.

They could come get mine but I lost them in a freak boating accident. ;) What are they going to a door to door search to get them all? Can't wait for that, bring it on! :camper: Really, the day this happens America will be dead and gone.

That is the same general attitude thousands of Germans had around 1933.......likewise of our friends in England not too long ago, not to mention our good friends in Austraila. "It can't happen here"........yeah, right.

Some people just don't realize the extreme danger our rights are in by the liberal socialist Demo's now in power.

I've sent emails & regular mails both to my State Senators & reps as well as my US Senators & Reps. I've told them all that as a Nation we are broke & that the idea of disarming Americans & tossing all those jobs out the window will be even more devastating. With $1.6 trillion borrowed between bush & this morally defunct inept reject 100,000 jobs saved right now would be a huge plus. They seem to think I NEED this darn gubment. They haven't responded since I told them it's not about the gubment. It's about the private citizen & their individual rights. The gubment is there to control outside sources from interfering with our way of life. Not to control our lives.

You all have heard it before, when they do away with the 2nd amendment, we will lose everything. And it will happen in the blink of an eye. We MUST stand up and be heard!!! We must make them listen, we are not the minority here. Far more gun owners than crazy leftists like this sad excuse of a president we have. :wall:

While I seriously doubt there will be 'door-to-door' searches on a wide spread basis.... Just as a rhetorical question,,, If you own one of the many forms of any that are on the list and it is not "grandfathered" as with the '94 ban, how will you enjoy it??
That is the same general attitude thousands of Germans had around 1933.......likewise of our friends in England not too long ago, not to mention our good friends in Austraila. "It can't happen here"........yeah, right.
Or, more importantly, how can you even use it.... There have been several cases in both England and Australia where homeowners have used "forbidden" weapons in what would normally be considered justifiable self defense and wound up on the wrong side of the court/legal system, just for owning the weapon...

If they are required to be registered and you don't, you will be a "criminal"....If you are identified as using one at a legal shooting range, you will be a "criminal"...... If you are seen in public with one, you will be a "criminal".....

We can all bury them, deny owning them, etc....and even forcefully resist someone taking them..... But are you willing to lose everything else near and dear to you to keep them???

I'm not suggesting, or claimng anything, just trying to cause some responsible thought on the matter...The "Founding Fathers" had to make a similar decision both collectively and as individuals when they convened the Continental Congress in Philadelphia over 200 years ago....

It can happen here....
