Aaahhhh.....
Isn't the cuddly puppy cute?........
I went to Wyoming this weekend to call critters with a couple friends. The wind was so brutal, we didn't score...... After a few days at home, the luck changed. With the temps during the last few days setting record highs here, I wasn't optimistic, but one finally came in. Don

Re: Aaahhhh.....
Beautiful looking dog! Congrats! Always more comfortable shooting in warmer weather, but like you said...the dogs seem to want you out in the coldest temps possible. BTW...how much did he/she weigh?

Doesn't look like there is much to hide behind in those parts. Must be why the scope is so big.
Nice shootin!

Re: Aaahhhh.....
Coyotes are real quick learners. I use three words to teach this trick (stop, lay, stay). And a good trigger pull, between the first and second command, don't hurt. Coyotes are also kinda psychic, (along with excellent hearing), sometimes all ya gotta do is THINK the command. They just seem to respond natcherly, as long as the 'trigger pull' part is well handled.

Gave a nice pale dog a 'nosler nap' this morning. 40 grain bt, broadside at 80 yds, as he was working downwind on me. No exit, fur still looking good with no rubs........

Re: Aaahhhh.....
Good Job! is that the rifle that you traded the stock on? Is that a target gray? I can see that it is a Ruger with a heavy barrel. but you have a nice slim for end on it. Nice camo job also!

Re: Aaahhhh.....
ryan, yep, it's the ruger VT that I canned the heavy, unwieldy beavertail stock from. It now wears a mkII sporter stock. Much more slender and better to carry and hunt with. More like the old tangsafety model 77's, that I came to love. The beavertail just sucks on shooting sticks. I taped and painted the targetgrey barrel and scope. I can peel it off if I need to, without hurting the finish.......

Re: Aaahhhh.....
I had the barrel of my target gray cut off to 21 inches to make it handier. I have a 243 with a tang safety and a heavy barrel with the slimmer stock it has a 19 inch barrel on it and I used it for years as a dear rifle. I was wondering if the stock would trade out to the Mk II like you did. Its pouring rain here right now which is always needed but puts a damper on hunting. It was in the low 80's which made night hunting quite nice I didn't even have to put gloves on to hunt. The day time was just to hot to hunt for winter.

Re: Aaahhhh.....
Also what kind of scope are you using? Looks like it has a 30mm tube on it with a side focus.

Re: Aaahhhh.....
You know something that I have gone to is the pole cat shooting sticks that have a device that fits on the sling mount under the fore arm and the sticks snap on to it. I have put the device on several of my rifles now. It makes for a good field set up.
