I loaded 100 rounds for my 257AI, with my cherished old style Nosler 120-gr solid base bullets, (the ones in the red box, with the lead tips), only to discover that I somehow got the new digital scale calibrated wrong, and I'm 15-grains short on the powder load.
So, I need to tear them all apart.
I've tried my hammer style kinetic puller, and damaged the tips on 6 out of 7 bullets, which I can't replace, and my rifle loves.
So, which bullet puller is going to do the least damage to the bullets? If I have to I'll cut the cases in two, and drive the bullets out. I can still buy 257 Roberts brass.
p.s. If anyone has any of these old style Nosler solid base bullets, I'll buy them. The new ones with the plastic tips just don't group as tight in my rifle. The old style group at about 5/8-inch, coming out of the barrel at 2900-fps, and the new ballistic tips, the solid bases, and the Hornady and Sierras I have tried are all out at over an inch.
Which bullet puller causes the least bullet damage?

I had this trouble using the hammer style puller.
My solution was to push some tissue up the end,so the tips were not damaged when removed.

A foam ear plug inside the hammer works well.

The RCBS collet puller does good. Pay attention and tighten just enough to pull the bullet. But, it will leave a mark on a few.

I use a Hornady collet style bullet puller, with the cam action....
As with the RCBS, it will leave a small indentation around the bullet's copper jacket, but I haven't found that it affects accuracy when reloaded, at least out to 100 yards..
