My boys and I went shooting the other day. We found out that a 204 shooting 39 gr. BlitzKings will penetrate a propane tank at 100 yds. We played with a shotgun, 260 rem, Ar-15 in 223 and my 204 ruger. The 260 shooting 130 tsx's was first. Tracers or an open flame would have made this outing a real BLAST.... My kid took a short vid of the first shot. Click it.........
The rest weren't as fun, but did show that 4 of 5 bk's exitted. The 204 entrance holes...
204 exits are lower left. The rest are 223 exits. the bumps are 223 fmj's that did not make it thru....
I have heard of guys complaing of bullet 'splash'. But after killing over 30 coyotes with a 204, I have never seen it. In fact I have only had a few exit wounds. This outing kinda confirms my thoughts on that, even if none of the hits were 'glancing'....... Don

Re: 204 bullet penetration
Thanks for posting the pics and your results. My friend and I have noticed too that the 39 Sierra and 40 V-Max are good on coyotes from 50-300 yds. The 45 gr. Hornady Spire point offers even more penetration. We have also noticed the 32's breaking up too much at 100 yds.

Re: 204 bullet penetration
Thanks for posting! Just last week Pops said "The .17 wouldn't hurt that tank." And I said " My .204 would hurt that tank." lmao Now I have to show him these pics.
