Off topic.. Military oil ??

A oldtimer gave me this weapons oil and bore cleaner yesterday. The oil still has the steel cap-plug sealing it. Anybody ever use this oil?. Or should I put it on the shelf with my other military stuff

You need to be careful with some of the old stuff - VERY toxic when it soaks into your skin (liver, etc).

Might work well, but at what cost?

Mike: Put it on your military shelf as a curio. There's much better stuff available now, as the chemical technology has advanced in leaps and bounds in regard to cleaning solutions.

About the only "old" stuff that is still viable, is LSA Weapons Oil, developed back in the 70's for the M16, and was the original "Break-Free". Still good stuff, and you can find it at gunshows still to this day. Of course, you can just buiy Break-Free too, very, very good stuff, but not really a bore cleaner, but a good bore conditioner. The CLP they have on the label is "Cleaner, Lubricant, Preservative". I've never had a carbon steel weapon rust using it, not even when I lived in northern coastal British Columbia.
