You only bought one pound of RE-10X???? I just can't see why. If you are loading 32's then use 26.0 gr. If you are loading 35's then use 25.5 gr. If you are loading 39 or 40's use 25.1 gr. And, if you are loading 45's use 24.5 gr. This is the one powder that shoots all the bullets I load well. I will have to admit that H4895 does a little better with the 35 gr. Bergers. The difference in group size or velocity is marginal though. I just like the thought of having one powder for so many bullets. Now if it just worked for my other magnums, I would be in heaven.

For those who haven't load developed Reloader-10X, remember to work up slowly from minimum. I personally move up in .2 grain increments. Also remember Silverfox's warning about different lots of this powder having different apparent burn rates. If you get a can with a different lot number, drop back down and work up again. To me that is a small price to pay for an almost universal .204 powder. At least in my XR-100. We will see how well it does with the new custom rifle.

I never shoot nekkid for fear of powder burns. Besides the neighbors think I'm wierd enough already. In Ct its not politically correct to own firearms much less use them. Worse yet to use them on your own property. Be seen using them unclothed and SWAT will most assuredly be paying you a visit

It is a tad cold too.

acloco: I'm just as guilty....Skipper and I both agree that 10X is THE universal powder for the 204. As I mentioned previously, I've tried all appropriate powders in mine, and 10X shines with most bullet weights in my Sako in both terms of accuracy and velocity.

But DO get his snail mail address for that bill!

I shoot every bullet I load with H4895. Not that 10x is not good, but it is not the only powder out there. Like Rick and Skipper, loading one powder is very nice.

WhistlePig - that is why I am doing the load workup that I did.

I want to know what powder and bullet works in my rifle. With any luck, I will be able to pull up on a pdog, guess the range, and let fly....hopefully the end result will be a flying dog at the other end.

I have to join in with WHISTLEPIG about H4895. Just about all the loads I shoot in my Savage 12VLP use H4895. The exception is the 40 gr. Nosler BT, with which I use AA2520 now. However, when I burn up the 2# of AA2520 I have on my shelf, then the 40 gr. Noslers load will be using H4895 too.

I can't say whether the Rel 10X you shooters are using is temerature sensitive or not, but I do know that H4895 is one of Hodgdon's Extreme powders and it has worked just GREAT for me in temperatures all the way from 110Ã‚Âº on down to -30Ã‚Âº up here in North DaColder.

Added Hornady 32 & 40 grain VMax under Reloader 10X to the mix.

I have never tried re 10x but my .204 with 40 grn v-max loves h 4895

Believe it was -10 yesterday with a slight 18 to 22 mph NNW wind.

Today...I believe it is +5 with a 5 to 8 mph wind.

Oh well...we need the moisture....right?!?!?!
