Seems I just inherited 10 Boxes of "Federal Classic .22 Long Rifle Birdshot" which reportedly has No. 12 bird shot in it.

Has anybody used it? What is it for?

I know Rick, you use it for flying Squirrels ;) , but anybody else?

I use some 22 long rifle bird shot around my moms place. works good on bluejays and wood peckers out to about 15 yards or so. after that, results are not so good. I even killed a ground squirrel that was molesting my tomatoe plants last year at around 12 yards. in my opinion, range is the biggest factor as far as killing power goes. also you may want to consider the rifle you will be shooting these from, as the rifflings become almost useless after a number of shots, because of lead build up. i am shooting a remington 572 pump 22. i even tried with a 10/22 once, but results were poor and no ejection after the shot.
