Ruger 10-22 conversion
Has anyone taken a 10-22 ruger (22lr) and put a 17 Mach2 or 17HMR barrel on the action to convert to one of the 17's. Visible or too much pressure for the action. Know they dropped the 10-17 due to action/feeding issues, mostly by pressure ? Bill K

Re: Ruger 10-22 conversion
Bill, can't say about the M2, but I think there's conversion barrels for that, but the HMR uses the 22 Mag case, and requires a longer and stronger action and a much heavier bolt due to the increased recoil impulse. There's no 22LR suitable for HMR conversion due the much higher pressure of the HMR cartridge also.

Ruger 10/22 with a Lilja 21" Bull barrel in a 17hm2, BSA Sweet 17 scope, Hogue overmold stock, and the list goes on that went into my rifle. The final total is a $1000.00 dollars and over 2,000 rounds and about that many gophers shot by this rifle. Oh, did I mention it has a supressor on it also. One quiet killer out to 150 yards.
