Hey guys,
I am looking to buy a new trigger for the 77/22. I have my eye on the Rifle Basix. Any thoughts or ideas on which trigger is the best for performance/ease of install?

Re: 77/22 trigger?
Timney sells a spring and sear kit for the Ruger. I have one in my 77/17 hmr. I'm very happy with it, light trigger pull and it makes it feel like a whole new gun. With the sear kit you keep your same trigger and it's just a matter of replacing the sear. I had to do some filing with the 3 position safety to get it to work properly. The directions tell you how to do it. I had my gunsmith do it just because I didn't want to file of too much. I sure wouldn't hesitate to buy another, and Timneys support line was great.
It's hard to detect good luck, It looks so much like something you've worked hard for and earned.

Re: 77/22 trigger?
There's lots of choices for a trigger in a 77/22. On two of mine, I used the Moyers trigger and feel for the money they're a very good choice. Timiney and Rifle Basix are also good, have them in other rifles.
This is one of my 77/22's, this one a switch barrel rig for 22WMR and 17HMR via a stainless Lilja barrel.
Using this rifle and 17gr Varmint Express Hornady ammo, my longest confirmed/witnessed kill was on a very unlucky ground squirrel at a lasered 326 yards. I was impressed, so was Skippy.

Re: 77/22 trigger?
I ordered the Timney sear and spring kit. Hopefully it won't take too much filing to get it working right. Rick, I always love the pics! By the way, just custom ordered my Cooper Jackson Hunter in 22LR. This one is customized for my med school graduation woo hoo!!! When I get more info/pics I will post for all to enjoy (should be in around April-May).

Hey, Rick. What trigger shoe do you run on the ruger? Will it fit a rifle basix blade? stock trigger or moyer only?

Re: 77/22 trigger?
Don, that one is an Ace trigger shoe, also have a bunch of them from Flaigs back when they were actually available before the "Era of Litigation" that we now enjoy (not).
I had them on all my rifles (as long as they were not wider than the trigger guard) as with one installed, it seems to lighten the trigger pull, which of course they do not, but gives the "feel" of a lighter trigger. After I replaced many of the triggers in my rifles with Jewells, Canjars and the like, I ended up with a drawer in my toolbox full of 'em.
Dunno if they'll fit over a Rifle Basix, but they fit over a Moyer okay. I think most of the replacement triggers are all about the same width, so I'd imagine one would fit on a Rifle Basix just fine. HTH

Hey guys,
I received the Timney adjustable sear and spring for the 77/22. I installed it but I am getting slamfires every now and then. What can I do to correct this?
