First kills with my 17HMR.

Post by Va varminter »

Went to the woods this morning to do some squirrel hunting. I had been earlier this season, but only saw deer. It was cold this morning but I managed to shoot two. Both were in the same tree at about 40yds. I put the crosshairs on the 1st's based of head and spine. Squeezed and down he came. The 2nd ran up the tree further and looked back down. I ran a 17grn bullet through her ear and managed to hollow out her skull :assault: :reddot:.

When my .204 is cooling I shoot my Ruger 77/17. I love the .17HMR as much as my .204! Life is good. :D Gary

I love my Ruger .17HMR too until it gets windy and until all the close squeaks are dead or won't come out and play anymore.........then I grab the Ruger M77 Mkll in .204 Ruger. seems the squeaks flop all around even when hit solidly with the .17HMR but when the .204 Ruger touches them they are dead right now! some awesome splatter factor with the .204 Ruger too! I have changed the name of the town where I shoot the squeaks from Cedarville to Splatterville!

I just got my Ruger 17HMR. I think I'm gonna love it ! It's got the dark laminated stock with a 24 " "weather guard" finish barrel. Looks great but I haven't found the right ammo. I think it's the Hornady 17gr. load. Is that what yours likes ? Also, did you figure out the trigger? That I have done; but I'm stumped by how much the bolt shroud drops at let off. Can't help accuracy with that much movement ! Sure would like your comments.
