Marlin VS Savage
I was looking at bolt action 22lr's today, and I was wondering if any of you fine folks had an opinion about these two. Both are bull barreled synthetic blued.
The savage was $230, and had a much nicer scope rail
The marlin was $200 and was taped for a scope rail
What do you think?

I'm a Marlin man myself but they need an $85 RifeleBasix trigger installed unless you know someone that can clean it up for less$$. If the Savage has the ACCU trigger in it you would be set. Check the price on a CZ too.

The trigger on my CZ American 221 is absolutely wonderful!! The set trigger is almost pornographic.
I'm betting GA will be along to sing their praises also.

CZ rimfires are a lot different than CZ 527s, Glen, and the triggers are cranky at best, left factory. Luckily, a $15 Brooks trigger kit can fix that real easily. CZ DOES have a set triggered rimfire, the 453, but it's not cost effective to buy that one. Do the math.
CZ 452= $339 +$15 trigger kit=$354
CZ 453= $439 no trigger kit needed
But, to get back on topic, Sportfaller was interested in Marlin or Savages, and all the new Savage rimfires come with Accutriggers, which are nice pieces, and don't need the Rifle Basix $65 re-do that Marlins and older Savages need.
Given those choices, I'd go with the CZ452 American of course, but I could certainly live happily with a new Savage, IF it had the Accutrigger. A buddy of mine just bought one in HMR, took out the blade in the Accutrigger (NO, I do NOT recommend this) and got a sweet 6 ounce pull from his new toy, This is on the thumbhole stocked model, the fancy Dan model.

got the first few rounds down the pipe today in the new savage. even with a very cheap old tasco (good rings though) and cheap bulk ammo, I'm minute-O'-skippy for sure!
this is a 5 round group at 50 yards
and this is a 3 round group at 50.
does anyone know of larger clips and single shot followers ?

SportFaller - I'm glad you went with the Savage, my buddy has the same rifle as yours and I've got the Mark-II BV (laminate version). I've had good luck with Federal Game-Shok 40 grainers so far. Last weekend I put 8 shots in one jagged hole at 50 yards! As far as your clip question, I know Savage makes 5 shot and 10 shot clips. I've got a couple 5 shots with mine and my buddy went with the 10 shots.
It's more important where ya hit 'em, than what ya hit 'em with.

Yeah, I'll be painting it this week I think. when I painted my 204 I painted it all, scope, action, everything. This one I'm planning on pulling the stock, painting it tan (or maybe the tan sandstone stuff) with black web over top. I think it will look great when its done.
I just wish i could find a single shot follower for when i'm shooting off the bench, reloading the tiny clip is kinda a pain. Guess I'll have to make one!

here is the new paint, After seein how nice it looked I dont think I'll do any web paint on it, keep it clean and simple, you know?
As far as the single shot follower, I cant find one. Next weekend while I have access to a machine shop I may give it a shot making one, looks easy enough.... or maybe I'm just an idiot
