Kimber Carry .45 Dressed for the Prom
Well maybe not the prom, but my daily carry piece was enhanced yesterday by wifey who presented me with a nice set of custom rosewood 1911 grips that reflect my Navy background to dress up the little piece.
For anyone out there that has a military background, or just likes the military logos, Kimber offers grips sets for all 1911's, and all branches of service. Laser engraved, pretty cool, me thinks.

Ray: Yep, she says she'll keep me around for a while. Seems she needs someone around to pick up dog poop in the back yard.
Kimber does a good job on their custom grips, that's fer sure. Now I'm thinking about another set on my 4" Commander size Kimber.....the madness never ends.

That CPO anchor would look mighty spiffy on a couple of my 1911's. I'll have to drop them a line.
Thx,

Jim: Here's a direct link to the Kimber grips. All branches of military appear to be in stock at this time.

Nice, having a wife that understands a gun crazed husband.Beautiful grips and platform.Although retired from the Air Force,I really like the Navy grips allot. I'll need to investigate if anyone has simaler grips for a Para, wide frame.

Re: Kimber Carry .45 Dressed for the Prom
Joe: If the Para will accept the same grips as a 'regular' 1911, the Kimber full size grips will fit. I realize the Para has a wider/thicker grip frame, but are the grip plates and screw holes/escutions not located in the same manner as a 1911?
Here's the port side of the little pistol (with the BIG bite):
Thanks for the positive comments on the pistol, guys. The problem with these Kimbers, Dakotas, Coopers, custom rigs and such, is that once you jump in, you're infected immediately and caught up in the madness that 'requires' you to buy more. Oh well, it keeps us out of bars and away from wild women I suppose. (Nobody could afford all three!)

Re: Kimber Carry .45 Dressed for the Prom
Joe: I was not aware that the Para's took different grip panel than the 1911, thinking only the grip frame was wider to accomodate the double stack magazine. Too bad, as that really limits the variety of choices compared to 'regular' 1911's.
Not to worry though....you may have limited choices in grips, but you also get 5 more rounds!

Clint: Thanks bud. Considering my severe case of "gunorrhea", I'm more concerned that she'll keep ME! Good thing she works where she does, is around guns and gunny-types all day, and has a pretty good understanding of guys like me after 28 years of being together.Clint E wrote:Rick those are some nice grips. When wife shopping when we're young, it's important to let them know right out of the gate who we are, what we're about, and what to expect in regard to guns and hunting. That's why we have "wife tryouts" early in life!

Re: Kimber Carry .45 Dressed for the Prom
Rick now those grips really add a lot of class to an already great looking pistol! It's hard to beat a Kimber in a 1911, just my humble opinion.
