Any opinions about the XD compact.
I really like the SR9C by Ruger. But I want a 40S&W because it will be for personal protection(C&C).

Re: Any opinions about the XD compact.
Between two of us CCW trainers, we have three models of the XD's. He has the compact, I have the Service model, and he has the XD M.....all in 40 cal.
ALL shoot rather well.
Two of them have upgraded triggers, but that is it.
When you buy an XD, before firing it, disassemble it, remove the factory lube/rust preventative, and apply one of your favorites.

Just so happens I am selling my XD40 Pkg. Has 2 clips and only had 36 rounds fired through it. It just sits in the closet. I would rather put money in a rifle and have a pistol not worth much in the closet

Re: Any opinions about the XD compact.
Like I said, I really liked the SR9C. When I went to the gun shop today I had a decision to make. I ended up chooseing the Ruger. It was a matter of gun over caliber. I think I made a good choice. The gun really feels good in my hand, not blocky like many of the new guns out today. I know the 40s&w is a better round for protection, but I am wanting to get my wife into shooting as well. Who knows, she might get this gun when Ruger comes out with the SR40.

VA, I've got the Ruger SR-9 also and I really like the way it feels in my hand. I think that you can do just fine with a 9mm in most cases but there are times when I just have to go with my .45 ACP or my 10mm! Look at it this way, the Ruger holds a lot more pills than either of these other guns.

I am really excited. I can't wait to shoot it. It's gotta be better than that Sigma I had.

I'm sure you will find that it's much better than the Sigma. Let us know how you like it. Gary

Re: Any opinions about the XD compact.
I shot it yesterday and I am pleased with it. It shot well with no problems. I was hitting center mass and head shots at 20 yds. I know that does not sound like much but if you shot the Sigma you would love it. BTW it's a compact gun which makes it even better.
