How about a handgun that shoots prairie dogs at 1/4 mile?
In theory many handguns could accomplish this with the correct holdover and windage. My son-in-law(Broncs&Whiskey) and I thought we'd take this to another level. We came across this Savage Striker in 223 and the wheels started turning. The barrel is from a sporter weight Savage and Shane screwed it right on headspacing with go and nogo gauges. We knew the barrel to be a good shooter producing groups in the 9/19 to 7/8 area with 39 bk's. That's an Elite 3200 4-12X rifle scope. With a sandbag under the butt and a good solid grip on the bipod, it is easy to hold down and recovery from recoil is fast. My best group while sighting in was a little over an inch, but Shane got a couple groups about 3/4 inch. We haven't had it in the field yet but hopes are high for a 440 yard hit to be in the 1/4 mile club. Second reason to build this gun was acloco doesn't have one.

My buddy had a Striker in .22/250, it was a shooting machine. .2" at 100 yards with 37.0 Varget/50 VMax. Chrono-ing gave it a velocity of around 3450, a bit more than a .223 rifle, in the ballpark, anyway. Nice, nice "handguns", and smartly set up, too. The leftbolt/rightport makes sense in a handgun, where you want to keep your grip the same for each shot.
Build a man a fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life!

LOL! That looks like a fun stick.
Is it still a 223 or 204 now?

Sweet. THAT will be fun.
I bet you can stretch it to 550/600.
How long is the barrel?
Have it recrowned yet?

ACLOCO:The barrel is 24" and no we have not recrowned it but I think that with the few loads that we tried so far that it will not need it just yet but I am heading out to the range with it and anthor Rifle that I built when I built that pistol. I will let you all know the results after I get back tomorrow from the range. Ride Up!!!
